The missing layer to the mesh.
No radio configuration. No channel keys to manage. Create an activity, share one QR code, and everyone's node auto-configures. Offline topo maps, real-time mesh positions, and encrypted comms — all without a cell signal.
What it does
Meshtastic® gives you the radio layer. MeshTrek gives you the layer on top — the maps, the channels, the coordination workflow, and the comms that field teams, trail runners, and backcountry groups actually need. And it's easy enough that non-technical group members can get on the mesh in seconds.
One QR code gives your entire group the encrypted channel, activity details, and map region. Members scan, tap Apply, and their node auto-configures. No walkie-talkie fumbling, no manual channel entry.
Every activity gets its own unique AES-256 channel, generated and written to your node automatically. No reused channels, no key management, no configuration. Sessions stay private without any effort from you.
Download the topo tile bundle before you go. Contour lines, trails, summits, and water features — readable at zoom 13–14 with zero cell signal. Your map lives on your device.
Every party member's location updates on the topo map over LoRa. Configurable beacon cadence — faster when moving, slower when stationary. Stale markers fade so you always know who's live.
One-to-one direct messages and a group channel — all over encrypted LoRa. ACK delivery receipts, retry on failure, and incoming message banners on the map screen. No server, no internet, no cell.
Drop categorized waypoints tuned to your activity type — water sources, camp sites, hazards, jump lines, hunting stands. Broadcasts to the whole party over the mesh in one beacon interval.
Built for
MeshTrek ships with 8 wire-locked activity types. Each one shapes the waypoint vocabulary, map display, and group tools you see — no setup, no configuration. Just pick your type and go.
Privacy by design
The Meshtastic® community built something specifically because they didn't want to depend on cell networks or cloud services. MeshTrek takes the same stance. Your subscription funds the app directly — no advertiser, no data broker, no analytics reseller ever touches your session.
Hardware
MeshTrek pairs with any Meshtastic®-compatible LoRa node over Bluetooth LE. Auto-configures the channel on your node at activity start — no manual radio setup, no firmware fork, no special accessories.
T-Beam, T-Echo, RAK WisBlock, Heltec LoRa 32 V3, and every other node running firmware 2.3.0+. If it speaks Meshtastic®, MeshTrek speaks to it. No special hardware, no setup beyond what you already have.
Scan nearby nodes, tap to pair. MeshTrek reconnects automatically on app launch when your node is in range. Bluetooth pairing happens once — you don't think about it again.
Create an activity, tap Publish. MeshTrek generates a unique AES-256 channel and writes it to your node in seconds. Members scan the share QR and their nodes configure identically — zero manual entry.
